Finding the Way Home: Transforming Suffering into Freedom through the Cultivation of Wisdom and Compassion

It is said the Buddha taught one thing and one thing only, “Suffering and the end of Suffering” On this retreat, we will explore the heart of the Buddha’s teaching: suffering and its causes and freedom and its causes. With the help and cultivation of our innate awareness, kindness and compassion we can become intimate with what it is like to be human. We will train our ability to bear witness to our personal and social pains and will immerse ourselves in timeless teachings to incline minds towards appreciating the joy of living.

This retreat will consist of an honoring of noble silence including periods of silent sitting and walking practice.
Using relational practices (meditating in dialogue, inquiry practice), we will explore interpersonal meditation practices to discover what it’s like to meditate while being in dialogue.

Through the exploration of the Buddha’s teachings on suffering and the end of suffering we will cultivate clarity of mind and courage of heart to support us in seeing things as they are. By taking refuge in the heart of loving awareness we will slow down so we can really listen to the truths of the present moment and find peace in our own awakened heart.
