Event Details

The Buddha taught that that key to peace, joy and happiness is release: a state of mind and heart not driven by a relentless insistence that life, in this moment, be other than as it is. This capacity for freedom is available every moment yet is often obscured by our agitated minds and wounded hearts. When we shift away from self-sourcing and turn towards any one of the many facets of awakening, and start divine sourcing we let go, and experience what is timeless, luminous and boundless. This day-long retreat will combine the steady focus and insight of Vipassana meditation, with the relational practice of inquiry to find our own access to awakening.

Teacher(s)

Amma Thanasanti

Amma Ṭhanasanti first encountered the Dharma in 1979 in a class taught by Jack Engler. In that class she was ignited by the possibility of giving her life to realize the end of suffering. Since that time, she has been committed to awakening. As a former nun of 26 years, she combines the rigor of the Ajahn Chah Forest Tradition and classical Buddhist teachings, passion for wholeness and creativity to all that she does. She emphasizes perspectives that are not confined to any religious point of view, belief system, or doctrine. Amma exudes an impersonal intimacy, full of love, joy and a curious mixture of playfulness, creativity and authority. Her style is direct, clear, compassionate and often humorous. She adept at meeting people where they are at, supporting them to find their own full life path and discover the blessings that are possible in transformation.
