Exploring the Eightfold Path

with Angela Dews

Tuesdays November 6th – December 11th, 2018 | 10:00am – 12:00pm

In this six-session course, we will follow the Eight-fold Path across the territory of morality, tranquility, and wisdom. We cultivate the wisdom of Wise View and Wise Intention to see things as they really are. We cultivate virtue by the practice of Wise Speech, Wise Action and Wise Livelihood. In order to be with an experience long enough to know its nature, we practice Wise Effort, Wise Mindfulness and Wise Concentration.

The Buddha describes the Noble Eightfold Path as the way of practice leading to the cessation of suffering. It is not some belief system to take on or stepping stones from one place to another (although, there is some of that), but an accessible (if sometimes challenging) guide for living and practicing in the world. Each class will include practice, instruction and talks, as well as group dialogue and inquiry. There will be ongoing practice assignments each week.

6 sessions on Tuesdays, from 10am-12noon; November 6, 13, 20, 27, December 4, 11.

The registration fee includes teacher support. If you wish to give more in addition to the registration fee, the total (registration fees and additional contributions) will be shared between NYI and the teacher(s).
