Five Hindrances to Practice and an Engaged Life

with Gary Singer

Monday, April 30th, 2018 | 10am – 12pm

According to Buddhism, the Five Hindrances are obstacles that arise in our meditation and in our lives that can undermine our efforts on the spiritual path. They are: Desire, Aversion, Laziness, Restlessness, and Doubt. Each of them has its own way of derailing us, and yet, dealing with the Hindrances is our practice. If we didn’t confront negative emotional states, we wouldn’t be on the spiritual path to begin with.

In this class, we will investigate causes of the hindrances, how they manifest, and how to deal with them, on and off the cushion.
