Mindful Working in Community
Working remotely is currently trending as more and more folks are working on their own. Some may find working from their homes to be a challenge in discipline. Some may simply crave a new setting, but working in noisy co-working spaces, cafes, or other non-traditional work environments may not always be optimal. Add to this the distraction of constant email checks, notifications, IMs, and the call of internet surfing. With so much pulling at us, and in such stressful environments, it can be a major challenge to be present and enjoy our work.

New York Insight is delighted to welcome all to our Mindful Work Wednesdays from 1pm-6pm as a time for quiet contemplation and thoughtful working. This open working meditation is appropriate for writing, journaling, blogging, coding, taking online courses, reading, or drawing… whatever you might enjoy working on in peace and in silence.

Each afternoon begins with a 15 minute peer-led sit, followed by open working time. Bells will sound every 15 minutes to call us back to the present and breathe deeply. We work in Noble Silence, so phone calls and conversation are not allowed in the meditation hall or the surrounding areas. Participants are encouraged to move mindfully with a minimum of disturbance to those in the room. Chairs, cushions, and work tables are available for use.

  • 1pm to 6pm on Wednesdays
  • Pay at the door, no pre-registration required. Arrive and leave anytime.
  • Cost is $25 base rate, or $15 student/need per day.
  • Participants must leave the premises to eat, but may drink water inside.
  • Hi-speed internet and outlets with surge protectors are provided.

Peace in yourself, peace in the world. Work mindfully and let your light shine. Be inspired to find new creative realms within NYI’s quiet, protected, and sacred space.
