Buddhist teacher and neuroscientist Culadasa (John Yates PhD) will guide us on an exploration of how to skillfully work with attention and awareness to develop mindfulness, enhance our meditation practices, cultivate insight, and ultimately change our thoughts, feelings, and habits for the better.

Through lecture, discussion, exercises, and meditation, we will play with attention—singling out something as an object to analyze or interpret. We will also practice awareness—receiving the big picture of the present moment and opening to everything that arises in a more holistic and inclusive way. As we begin to work skillfully with attention and awareness, we see the potential for mindfulness—the optimum interaction between the two—to completely transform who we are.

Beginning and seasoned meditators are welcome; no previous experience is necessary.

*Registration fee does not include teacher support.
Teacher support: Suggested starting donation is $30 but whatever you offer is greatly appreciated. All donations go to support the teacher(s).

Culadasa (John Yates, Ph.D.) is the director of Dharma Treasure Buddhist Sangha in Tucson, Arizona and author of "The Mind Illuminated: A Complete Meditation Guide Using Buddhist Wisdom and Brain Science" (Dharma Treasure Press, October 6, 2015). A meditation master with over four decades of experience in the Tibetan and Theravadin Buddhist traditions, Culadasa was ordained as an Upasaka (dedicated lay-practitioner) in 1976. He taught physiology and neuroscience at university for many years. Culadasa combines the original teachings of the Buddha with an emerging, scientific understanding of the mind to give students a rich and rare opportunity for rapid progress and profound insight.
