Here at New York Insight, we take refuge in the triple gem of Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha. The Buddha said that associating with spiritual friends is the whole of the spiritual life.

We invite you to join us as we investigate how we relate to the spiritual friends at New York Insight. We'll be using the tools of Buddha-Dhamma to explore honestly the value of diversity and to acknowledge the need to recognize and dissolve barriers that separate us from each other: To whom do we relate as Sangha? Whom do we perceive as other? How did our views come to be this way?  In this process, we hope to promote a greater understanding of ourselves and each other so that we can become a more honest and loving community that can be a refuge for all, both at New York Insight and in the world.

Themes include:

  • The Importance of Sangha
  • Spiritual Bypass
  • The Power and Perils of Our Stories
  • The Unconscious Creation of Identity in the World
  • How to Practice as an Inclusive Sangha

Application Process:

Space is limited in this course. In addition, we aspire to create a diverse balance in regards to race/ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation and other identities.
