We will do rounds of movements, breathing, and meditation. Qigong Master Robert Peng will lead will flowing meditative movements ones from the "Eight Cycles" of Elixir Light Qigong (from the Shaolin Buddhist tradition). The breath work will mainly be a fusion of yoga, Qigong and Russian orthodox technique (similar to what Dr. Brown has taught previously at NYI). The meditation will be "Small Heavenly Circuit" (sometimes known as Microcosmic Orbit) from Shaolin Buddhism and Open Focus Meditation (derived from Zen Buddhism). Chanting and other practices may be used to further enhance the group experience. We will finish with an ancient group healing process not previously taught at NYI.
Appropriate for practitioners of all levels.
Teacher support: Suggested starting donation is $20 for evening and afternoon events and $40 for daylongs but whatever you offer is greatly appreciated and no one is ever turned away for lack of funds. Dr. Richard P. Brown
Dr. Richard P. Brown, Assoc. Prof. of Clinical Psychiatry, Columbia Univ.,teaches breath techniques, movement, and meditation to improve energy, sleep, resilience, and peace of mind. Certified to teach Aikido (4th Dan), yoga, Qigong, and Meditation, his work is a unique fusion of ancient and modern mind-body techniques. Robert Peng is the founder of Elixir Light Qigong. He began his Qigong apprenticeship with the legendary monk Xiao Yao when he was a boy. As part of his training he did a hundred-day water fast in a dark, underground chamber. From this experience Robert developed extraordinary spiritual powers and healing abilities.
