MLK Evening – People of Color and Allies

with Angela Dews

Monday, January 20th, 2020 | 7:00pm – 9:00pm

Join us for our annual special People of Color Sangha + Allies sit on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in which we remember the legacy of MLK—a life of committed, courageous, compassionate action.

What does Martin Luther King, Jr. really teach us? Often, when we speak of Dr. King we observe that he was able to look at the truth, full in the face, and still love. But looking at the truth is not something to skip over to get to love. Gina Sharpe said, “In the depth of despair, asking ‘what does this suffering have to teach me?‘ can be a powerful and loving way to go through it rather than around it.”

We look forward to spending an evening with you in meditation and conversation.

No previous meditation experience is required.

Fee by donation: Suggested starting donation is $15 but whatever you offer is greatly appreciated and no one is ever turned away for lack of funds. Donations are shared with the teacher(s) and NYI.
