THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT. THERE IS NO WALK–IN REGISTRATION.

 

Come join us as we let go of the old and welcome the new. We will see the emergence of intentions of the heart, with an evening of meditation, chanting, reflection, music and ritual in the context of “kalyana mitta”—beautiful friends and companions.

Please note:
•Doors open at 8:15pm and the sit begins promptly at 9:00pm
Pre-registered attendees only, on-site registration will be unavailable
•Space is limited
•Light refreshments will served after the event
•This is a sitting and yogis are asked to attend the entire evening so as to maintain a sacred container of meditation and peace to bring in 2015

There will be an opportunity to practice generosity by giving dana to the the Lineage Project, a non-profit organization that teaches yoga, meditation, and discussion relating to life skills to those in juvenile detention centers.

Bill Woodson

Bill Woodson Bill Woodson has a doctorate in psychology and has worked, domestically and internationally, as an organization development consultant specializing in assisting corporations and organizations develop highly productive work teams that value diversity and inclusivity. In that capacity, he has developed and facilitated a number of diversity and inclusion training programs exploring several salient dimensions of diversity. Currently, his professional life consists of his mindfulness-based psychotherapy practice in New York City. He has had a spiritual practice since 1971 and has practiced Vipassana meditation since 2005.  In recent years he has been on the board at NYI and Insight Meditation Society.  He is currently co-chairperson of the Diversity Committee of the NYI Board of Directors.

Jon Aaron

Jon Aaron Jon Aaron has been a teacher at New York insight since 2006.  His principal dharma teacher has been Matthew Flickstein of The Forest Way. He trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, and is a certified teacher through the CFM. He has taught over 50 cycles of the seminal curriculum as well as numerous courses for alumni of the program. He completed the Integrated Study and Practice Program at the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies and the Foundations in Buddhist Contemplative Care at the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care.  He is the co-guiding teacher of the Makom Meditation Havurah program at the Jewish Community Center. He is a certified Somatic Experience Practitionertm and has most recently completed the teacher training in Mindfulness for Pain offered by Breathworks in England.

sandra weinberg

Sandra Weinberg Sandra Weinberg is a co-founder and member of the Board of Directors of NYI. She has studied the Dharma and practiced mindfulness meditation for over 30 years and is a graduate of the first Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leaders Program.  She is a psychotherapist in private practice in New York City.
