New Year's Eve Sit & Celebration

Come join us as we let go of the old and welcome the new. We will see the emergence of intentions of the heart, with an evening of meditation, chanting, reflection, music and ritual in the context of “kalyana mitta”—beautiful friends and companions.

Please note:
•Doors open at 8:15pm and the sit begins promptly at 9:00pm
Pre-registered attendees only, on-site registration will be unavailable
•Space is limited
•Light refreshments will be served after the event
•This is a sitting and yogis are asked to attend the entire evening so as to maintain a sacred container of meditation and peace to bring in 2016

There will be an opportunity to practice generosity by giving dana to the Awake Youth Project, a non-profit organization that introduces teens to a path of mindfulness and meditation to transform harmful behavior, deepen emotional awareness and live in accordance with their most authentic aspirations.

Angela Dews

Angela Dews Angela Dews found the dharma in 1996, at Vallecitos Mountain Ranch in New Mexico and began serious practice at Deer Park In California with Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh. She is a graduate of the fourth Community Dharma Leaders Program at Spirit Rock and her primary teachers are Gina Sharpe and Gloria Taraniya Ambrosia. Angela leads the NYI Harlem POC & Allies Sitting Group and co-leads the monthly Buddha & Bill W.  Sangha.

Lani Miller

Lani Miller Lani Miller has been practicing Insight Meditation since 1977.  She is a graduate of the third Community Dharma Leaders Program. Lani is also a Singer/ Songwriter who is interested in how music and other creative arts can be a vehicle for sharing spiritual truths and values.

sandra weinberg

Sandra Weinberg Sandra Weinberg is a co-founder and member of the Board of Directors of NYI. She has studied the Dharma and practiced mindfulness meditation for over 30 years and is a graduate of the first Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leaders Program.  She is a psychotherapist in private practice in New York City.
