Third Monday of each month

No previous meditation experience is required.

This sitting group provides instruction in insight meditation and fosters mutual support and understanding among the growing community of people of color who find nourishment and inspiration in the practice.

Fee by donation: Suggested starting donation is $15 but whatever you offer is greatly appreciated and no one is ever turned away for lack of funds. For this event  all donations are split evenly between the teacher(s) and NYI.

Lama Rod Owens Lama Rod Owens is a core teacher with Natural Dharma Fellowship in Cambridge, MA where he is also pursuing his graduate studies in Buddhist Ministry at Harvard Divinity School. He also the former lama and program director of Kagyu DC, a Tibetan Buddhist practice and study center in Washington, DC. Lama Rod is interested in the intersection of trauma, race, and Dharma practice and is the co-author of the forthcoming book Radical Dharma which explores the impact of racism on western sanghas while offering liberatory strategies rooted in love.
