No previous meditation experience is required.

Fee by donation: Suggested starting donation is $15 but whatever you offer is greatly appreciated and no one is ever turned away for lack of funds. For this event all donations are split evenly between the teacher(s) and NYI.

Karen G. WilliamsKaren G. Williams is a peer leader at NYInsight and in April 2017 she will graduate from the Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leader Training Program. She has practiced vipassana meditation since 2008 and will start the Spirit Rock Dedicated Practitioners Program in the upcoming year. Karen G. recently received her doctoral degree in cultural anthropology from the CUNY Graduate Center. Her research examines strategies implemented inside correctional facilities to help incarcerated people return home to their communities. When Karen is not teaching at Queens College, she can be found playing roller derby with Gotham Girls Roller Derby League. She plays under the name “BackAlley Dred” for the Bronx Gridlock and the Grand Central Terminators. Her practice is rooted in cultivating a spirit of whole heartedness on and off the track.Photo credit Gisel Florez.
