Ehipassiko — Come and See for Yourself

Story as Metaphor
Margo McLoughlin
Fee by donation; Appropriate for ages 8 and up.

June 15, 2014
06:00 pm - 08:00 pm

Margo will offer a selection of stories and lead a discussion on the topic of "Story as Metaphor." As a storyteller, she seeks to offer her listeners a glimpse of the oral culture of early Buddhism. Incorporating phrases and words from the Pali language, as well as a keen sense of the context in which these stories were originally told, Margo brings to life the world of Ancient India, while revealing how relevant the Buddha's teachings remain in the modern world.

Appropriate for ages 8 and up.

Margo McLoughlin Margo McLoughlin is a Canadian storyteller and writer, based in Victoria, BC. A graduate of the Harvard Divinity School, Margo has been translating and adapting stories from the Buddhist tradition for more than fifteen years. In these wonderful tales we meet rascally jackals, clever monkeys, wise elephants, and men and women just like us, whose daily lives are not that different from our own, as they face loss, illness, as well as the discovery of their own spiritual potential. Margo has performed these ancient stories in Canada, the United States, Ireland, and Burma.
