SUMMARY:In-Person and Online: Heavily Meditated - The Dharma of Depression & Anxiety
DESCRIPTION:In-Person and Online: Heavily Meditated – The Dharma of Depression & Anxiety \nwith Dan Harris and Leslie Booker \nSunday\, September 21st\, 2025 | 1:00pm – 5:00pm ET \nIn-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \nPlease note: In-person registration is now full. We invite you to join us online. \n \nMany of us come to the cushion looking for refuge from our anxiety\, depression or any number of neurodiversities that we might feel are an impediment to our practices and our lives. And yet\, they continue to pop up for us again and again. \nIn this special half-day workshop\, Dan Harris\, author and host of the 10% Happier podcast\, and New York Insight’s Guiding Teacher\, Leslie Booker\, will discuss how the dharma is actually uniquely equipped to help us deal with our depression and anxiety. \nNot only can the dharma shed light on why we feel anxious or hopeless—it can also help transform these experiences into portals of wisdom. \nThrough dharma talks\, meditation\, and group discussion\, you’ll come to understand some basic tools to deal with anxiety\, depression\, ADHD\, and overwhelm. You’ll also learn how to connect with your body and settle the mind in your most stressed-out moments. Together we’ll touch into the possibilities for care and well-being that the dharma offers\, and also talk about what it doesn’t cover. \nIn-person seats have sold out. Please register for live online access below! \nOnline Registration:\nPlease register below. If you are able\, registering at the “Supporter” level enables others to attend at the “Subsidized” level. SUMMARY:In-Person and Online: The World Is Our Practice - Finding Presence and Peace in the Midst of It All
DESCRIPTION:In-Person and Online: The World Is Our Practice – Finding Presence and Peace in the Midst of It All \nwith Jon Aaron \nSaturday\, September 27th\, 2025 | 10:00am – 5:00pm ET \nIn-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n\nInsight practice reveals the world as it truly is. As we begin to clearly see and embody the fundamental truths of Dukkha (suffering)\, Anicca (impermanence)\, and Anatta (non-self)\, we discover a profound paradox. On one hand\, this understanding brings greater lightness and freedom to our lives. On the other hand\, we may become even more acutely sensitive to how the three poisons—greed\, hatred\, and delusion—manifest around us\, both in our personal experience and throughout society. \nHow do we skillfully navigate our lives between these two realities? How do we maintain inner tranquility and ease while remaining fully present to the world as it is\, with all its beauty and suffering? This delicate balance is the essence of equanimity—perhaps the most crucial quality we can cultivate on the spiritual path. \nThis daylong retreat will explore how our meditation nurtures this essential wisdom. Through guided sits\, walking meditation\, and dharma reflection\, we will investigate how equanimity allows us to remain open-hearted and responsive without being overwhelmed\, and how this quality serves both our own liberation and our capacity to serve others with clarity and compassion. \nLet go of the past\, let go of the future\, let go of the present and pass over to the further shore.\n —from the Dhammapada \nIn-Person Registration:\nPlease register below. If you are able\, registering at the “Supporter” level enables others to attend at the “Subsidized” level. Thank you for your generosity! Simply select “1” from the drop-down next to the Bring a Buddy level\, and enter your special discount code (provided in your Circle of Friends welcome email) to reduce the price to that of a single\, standard registration.
