SUMMARY:In-Person and Online: The Path Through a Broken Heart
DESCRIPTION:In-Person and Online: The Path Through a Broken Heart \nwith Jon Aaron \nSaturday\, April 4th\, 2026 | 10:00am – 1:00pm ET \nIn-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nIt’s impossible to move through life without experiencing heartbreak—the loss of a loved one or relationship\, the end of a job\, the dissolution of home\, culture\, or way of life. The dharma path of mindfulness and compassion teaches us not to bypass this pain\, but to walk directly through it: to know it fully\, and to discover freedom within it. \nIn these three hours of practice\, we will explore how to fully inhabit the broken heart\, releasing ourselves from the grip of our stories—the “What ifs\,” the “If onlys\,” the “I should haves”—and open to what is actually here. This is done with an intention of kindness\, humor and joy. \nThis retreat will include various forms of meditation including chanting\, prostrations\, sitting and walking practice. \nIt is hoped that participants will leave feeling as though a weight has been lifted from their lives. \nIn-Person Registration:\nPlease register below for in-person participation. If you are able\, registering at the “Supporter” level enables others to attend at the “Subsidized” level. Thank you for your generosity! (Please note that the registration price includes a base level of teacher support\, and you will have the opportunity to donate more after the program.) \nIf you are registering via a mobile device such as a phone or tablet\, you can scroll right and left and up and down within the below form if it is partially obscured or cut off.\nCLICK HERE to open the registration form in a new browser window. \nBring a Buddy: If you are a member of our Circle of Friends\, you’re invited to bring a Dharma buddy to this program for no additional cost. Simply select “1” from the drop-down next to the Bring a Buddy level\, and enter your special discount code (provided in your Circle of Friends welcome email) to reduce the price to that of a single\, standard registration. This registration will grant attendance for you and your buddy. \n \nOnline (Zoom) Registration:\nPlease register below for online participation via Zoom. SUMMARY:In-Person and Online: The Heart of Addiction - Working with Shame\, Repairing Attachment Wounds
DESCRIPTION:In-Person and Online: The Heart of Addiction – Working with Shame\, Repairing Attachment Wounds \nwith George Haas \nSaturday\, April 11th\, 2026 | 10:00am – 5:00pm ET \nIn-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nAddiction often runs deeper than the behaviors we’re trying to change. It’s tied to patterns of craving\, emotional overwhelm\, and disconnection that can be difficult to interrupt on our own. \nThis daylong retreat is open to anyone interested in understanding these patterns more deeply\, whether you’re in recovery or simply exploring the relationship between meditation\, attachment\, and addiction. \nMeditation teacher George Haas brings together Buddhist practice\, attachment repair\, and G. Allan Marlatt’s work on relapse prevention to offer a practical way of working with these dynamics. \nDrawing on over two decades of teaching\, his approach focuses on how relational patterns shape craving\, emotional regulation\, and our capacity for connection. \nYou’ll learn how to stay present with urges without immediately acting on them\, work with difficult emotional states like shame\, anger\, and depression\, and begin building forms of connection that feel more stable and supportive. \nNote: This program will be recorded. The recording will be sent to all registrants after the program\, so please feel free to sign up even if you cannot join in real time. \nIn-Person Registration:\nPlease register below for in-person participation. If you are able\, registering at the “Supporter” level enables others to attend at the “Subsidized” level. Thank you for your generosity!
