SUMMARY:Online: Maranasati - The Profound Practice of Mindfulness of Mortality
DESCRIPTION:Online: Maranasati – The Profound Practice of Mindfulness of Mortality \nwith Nikki Mirghafori \nWednesdays\, May 4th – May 25th\, 2022 | 7:00pm – 8:30pm ET \nWe “know” our time on this earth is limited\, yet most of us make daily and long-term choices that only make sense in light of eternity. The way to live more aligned with our values is to bring the scarcity of our time to our awareness. How would our priorities shift if we truly embraced our impermanence\, instead of fearfully running away from it? Would we waste less time? Love more deeply? Let go with more ease? Forgive ourselves and others? Have more freedom? Is it possible to prepare for a peaceful final goodbye\, be it ours or our loved ones? The liberating practice of mindfulness of mortality bestows these gifts\, and more. \nJoin us for this four week dive into the teachings and practices of maranasati (marana=death\, sati=mindfulness) to help us live more fully and die fearlessly. This online course includes lectures\, guided meditations\, discussions\, Q/A periods\, and optional homework reflection assignments. Please be advised that small group exercises (through breakout rooms on Zoom) are an integral part of our exploration and learning process. \nRegistration:\nPlease register at the highest level that your generosity offers.\nExplanations of levels follow below.\nIf you are registering via a mobile device such as a phone or tablet\, you can scroll right and left and up and down within the below form if it is partially obscured or cut off. SUMMARY:Online: Meditating With the Eyes
DESCRIPTION:Online: Meditating With the Eyes \nwith Bodhipaksa \nThursday\, May 5th\, 2022 | 7:00pm – 9:00pm ET \nIf you’re used to meditating with the eyes closed\, you may well tend to ignore them. This may be a missed opportunity. \nIn more than 30 years of teaching and 40 years of meditating\, Bodhipaksa has developed a unique approach to meditation that emphasizes being aware of the eyes and of our sense of vision. The eyes may constitute only a fraction of our body’s mass\, but our sense of vision represents more than 70 percent of our sensory input\, and how we relate to our visual field (even with the eyes closed) affects every aspect of our experience. \nBodhipaksa will introduce two core practices in this evening workshop: \nHe’ll show how “soft eyes” can radically calm the mind and give us access to the body’s sensations in a much more open\, receptive\, and holistic way than normal. \nAnd he’ll explore how the practice of kind eyes can transform our practice of lovingkindness\, giving us effortless access to feelings of warmth\, appreciation\, and caring both for others and for ourselves. Even after a brief experience of these two approaches to meditation\, your practice may never be the same again. \nRegistration:\nPlease register at the highest level that your generosity offers.\nExplanations of levels follow below.\nIf you are registering via a mobile device such as a phone or tablet\, you can scroll right and left and up and down within the below form if it is partially obscured or cut off.
