SUMMARY:Online: Finding Balance in our Lives
DESCRIPTION:Online: Finding Balance in our Lives \nwith Rev. Tenku Ruff \nThursday\, September 29th\, 2022 | 7:00pm – 9:00pm ET \nThese days\, many people find themselves at the edge of either excess anxiety or ongoing depression. It can be hard to find our way through. The Buddha once asked his disciple\, Sona\, a former lute player\, about properly tuning the lute. Ven. Sona replied that for tuneful and harmonious sounds\, the strings should be “not too tight\, not too loose.” So it is with our meditation practice\, and with our lives. How can we find a balance between striving and slackness? When our minds are in balance and still\, the path is clear; when we are either too fervently bent on understanding “something” or when we are weary—in body or in mind—the path can be harder to see. \nOn this evening of practice Tenku Ruff Osho will focus on finding balance\, allowing our bodies show us the way\, and letting go of the places where we feel stuck. \nRegistration:\nPlease register at the highest level that your generosity offers.\nExplanations of levels follow below.\nIf you are registering via a mobile device such as a phone or tablet\, you can scroll right and left and up and down within the below form if it is partially obscured or cut off.\nCLICK HERE to open the registration form in a new window for an easier process.\nPlease contact registration@nyimc.org if you need assistance. \n \nRegistration Fees include Teacher Support\nNew York Insight Meditation Center has streamlined the registration fee levels. SUMMARY:Online: Luminous Darkness - An Engaged Buddhist Approach to Embracing the Unknown
DESCRIPTION:Online: Luminous Darkness – An Engaged Buddhist Approach to Embracing the Unknown \nwith Deborah Eden Tull \nFriday\, September 30th\, 2022 | 6:00pm – 7:30pm ET \nDarkness is not the absence of light\, but a vital and restorative expression of nature and consciousness. Global uncertainty invites us to re-learn how to move through the dark gracefully. While we cannot rely on our familiar compass to navigate darkness\, we can access the emergent map that comes from presence\, deep listening\, and relational intelligence; away from the world of concepts and ideas\, and into the wisdom of our bodies. \nAs we enter the darker months of the year and continue to navigate uncertain times\, discover how Buddhism and spiritual traditions across the world recognize “dark times” — periods which appear as the absence of light — as a profound invitation for growth. With nothing to hold onto while swimming through the mysterious tides of change\, we are invited to open our hearts to fresh perception. Consider the need in our world for Endarkenment alongside Enlightenment. \nThese teachings are inspired by Eden’s newest book\, Luminous Darkness: An Engaged Buddhist Approach to Embracing the Unknown (For Personal and Collective Awakening). \nRegistration:\nPlease register at the highest level that your generosity offers.\nExplanations of levels follow below.\nIf you are registering via a mobile device such as a phone or tablet\, you can scroll right and left and up and down within the below form if it is partially obscured or cut off.\nClick HERE to open the registration form in a new browser window.\nPlease contact registration@nyimc.org if you need assistance. \n \nRegistration Fees include Teacher Support\nNew York Insight Meditation Center has streamlined the registration fee levels.
