What if play could be a blessing? \nThe Body Remembers Freedom is a monthly gathering where we explore the intersection of meditation\, dharma\, and embodied practice. Through this practice\, we remember what it feels like to trust ourselves\, to breathe fully\, and to belong. \nParticipants are supported to be: \n\nMore grounded and connected to their bodies and each other\nReconnected to joy\, creativity\, and inner resource\nBetter able to meet life — and themselves — with compassion and presence\n\nWe gather to remember the sacred in the ordinary\, to bless our own aliveness\, and to reconnect with community\, the earth\, and the truth in our bones. \nCome as you are. No performance\, experience\, or flexibility required — just a willingness to be curious and present. \nWe suggest you wear comfortable clothing that you can move in freely. \nSave the dates for additional Thursday sessions in this series! These upcoming sessions will open for registration soon:\n2025: November 6 | December 4\n2026: January 15 | February 12 | March 12 | April 9 | May 7 | June 18 | July 9 | August 13 \nIn-Person Registration:\nPlease register below. SUMMARY:In-Person and Online: Beyond Self-Care - Interdependence\, Survival\, and Collective Well-Being
DESCRIPTION:In-Person and Online: Beyond Self-Care – Interdependence\, Survival\, and Collective Well-Being \nwith nico hase\n \nThursday\, October 16th\, 2025 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET \nIn-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n\nThe term self-care has deep roots. As Audre Lorde wrote\, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence\, it is self-preservation\, and that is an act of political warfare.” \nFor many\, self-care has always been a matter of survival in systems that fail to protect and nurture. At the same time\, the phrase has been widely co-opted by the wellness industry\, often reduced to individual routines or consumer choices. \nThis evening with dharma teacher and psychologist nico hase—author of How Not to Be a Hot Mess: A Buddhist Survival Guide for Modern Life—will hold both of these truths. \nWe’ll honor the life-saving power of self-care while also asking: what happens when individual solutions are asked to solve collective problems? How can Buddhist teachings on interdependence help us expand the conversation beyond optimization and burnout toward mutual care and collective thriving? \nThrough stories\, guided practices\, and group reflection\, we’ll explore grounded ways to cultivate sustainable well-being that neither dismiss the radical roots of self-care nor get lost in performative wellness. Together\, we’ll shift the guiding question from “How can I feel better?” to “How can we thrive together?” \nJoin us for an evening that opens space for Buddhist wisdom to illuminate a path of resilience\, connection\, and shared flourishing. \nIn-Person Registration:\nPlease register below. If you are able\, registering at the “Supporter” level enables others to attend at the “Subsidized” level. Thank you for your generosity! SUMMARY:Online: Steadying Our Center - Heartful Breathwork for These Times
DESCRIPTION:Online: Steadying Our Center – Heartful Breathwork for These Times \nwith Dalila Bothwell \nSunday\, October 26th\, 2025 | 5:30pm – 7:30pm ET \nOnline via Zoom \n \nIn times of uncertainty and change\, our breath can be a reliable and helpful anchor. In this nourishing online session we will practice the wisdom of conscious breathing and heart-centered awareness. \nBreathwork is the practice of using intentional breathing patterns and techniques to cultivate deeper states of awareness\, healing\, and presence. Unlike simply observing the natural breath in traditional meditation\, breathwork involves actively engaging with the breath as a transformative tool – using rhythm\, depth\, and conscious direction to possibly access emotional release\, somatic healing\, and expanded states of consciousness. \nRather than working with breath as a mental object alone\, we’ll explore how the breath moves through our entire being – softening the heart space\, releasing tension\, and creating a felt sense of groundedness through the body. This embodied approach helps us stay present not just with our thoughts\, but with the full spectrum of our human experience. \nJoin us in cultivating the steady heart that can meet whatever arises with wisdom and compassion. \nFormat\nOur time together will include brief dharma reflections\, guided meditation\, breathwork\, journaling and gentle movement. No prior breathwork experience is necessary – just bring your openness and your meditation cushion. \nAll instructions are invitational; you can participate to the degree it is supportive and resonant. \nWhat You’ll Need\n\nQuiet space\nComfortable cushion or chair\nOptional: blanket\, nourishing beverage\, notebook for reflections\n\n  \nRegistration:\nPlease register below. If you are able\, registering at the “Supporter” level enables others to attend at the “Subsidized” level. Thank you for your generosity! (Please note that the registration price includes a base level of teacher support\, and you will have the opportunity to donate more after the program.) \nIf you are registering via a mobile device such as a phone or tablet\, you can scroll right and left and up and down within the below form if it is partially obscured or cut off.\nCLICK HERE to open the registration form in a new browser window. \nBring a Buddy: If you are a member of our Circle of Friends\, you’re invited to bring a Dharma buddy to this program for no additional cost.
