SUMMARY:In-Person: Free Mindful Tuneup
DESCRIPTION:In-Person: Free Mindful Tuneup \nwith David Grogan\n \nTuesday\, January 6th\, 2026 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET \nNew York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nMindful Tuneup is a free two-hour workshop for beginners and intermittent meditators looking to jump-start a more consistent practice. That begins with finding a balanced posture that fosters steadiness\, clarity\, receptivity and a natural sense of awareness. \nThrough guided practices\, you’ll learn core meditation skills—using the breath as your tuning fork\, anchoring attention when the mind drifts\, and bringing scattered thoughts into gentle alignment. Time will also be set aside during this welcoming and inclusive workshop for questions and group reflection on common meditation challenges\, as well as how to navigate busy thoughts and distractions in daily life. \nYou’ll leave equipped with practical strategies\, fresh insights\, and lasting confidence to weave mindfulness and meditation into everyday moments\, whether you are starting fresh or seeking to deepen your practice. \nIn-Person Registration:\nPlease register below. This workshop is free\, but your dana (donations) help us sustain offerings like these. Suggested donation is $15\, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. \nIf you are registering via a mobile device such as a phone or tablet\, you can scroll right and left and up and down within the below form if it is partially obscured or cut off.\nCLICK HERE to open the registration form in a new browser window. \n \nVolunteering \nAll of our programs rely on volunteers to support our teachers and staff with various tasks and responsibilities. Volunteering allows you to participate in our programs at no cost. To inquire about volunteering opportunities\, please fill out our inquiry form\, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

SUMMARY:In-Person and Online: What Is Freedom? Rest\, Wise Effort\, and Nourishing What We Want to Grow
DESCRIPTION:In-Person and Online: What Is Freedom? Rest\, Wise Effort\, and Nourishing What We Want to Grow \nPart of The Body Remembers Freedom Series\n \nwith Kaira Jewel Lingo and Linds Roberts\n \nThursday\, January 15th\, 2026 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET \nIn-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nAt the start of a new year\, many of us feel compelled toward striving and self-improvement. That same pressure often follows us into our spiritual practice\, layered on top of long-standing habits of pushing ourselves and harsh self-judgment. \nThis evening workshop with teachers Kaira Jewel Lingo and Linds Roberts draws on the Buddha’s teachings on the Four Right Efforts\, exploring how freedom develops through learning when to apply effort\, when to rest\, and how to listen to the body’s intelligence. Rather than tightening the strings of the lute or letting them go slack\, we practice tuning them so clarity and ease can emerge naturally. \nThrough meditation\, gentle movement and play\, shared inquiry\, poetry\, and moments of quiet\, we explore how to nourish what supports clarity\, joy\, and steadiness\, without forcing change or improvement. This work invites a direct\, embodied sense of how freedom is cultivated through wise effort rather than pressure or self-correction. \nThis workshop is part of The Body Remembers Freedom\, a monthly series that brings together meditation\, dharma\, and embodied practice in a way that is relational\, grounded\, and alive. Each session includes time for meditation and contemplation\, a dharma talk or shared inquiry\, and InterPlay\, a playful and powerful practice using movement\, voice\, storytelling\, and deep listening to access the wisdom of the body. \nParticipants are supported to be: \n\nMore grounded and connected to their bodies and to one another\nMore accountable to themselves and to community\nReconnected to joy\, creativity\, and inner resource\nBetter able to meet life\, and themselves\, with compassion and presence\n\nIn times that can feel scary\, overwhelming\, or isolating\, these gatherings offer a place to put the phone down\, release accumulated stress\, and reconnect with what feels trustworthy and alive. We gather to remember the sacred in ordinary experience and to be held in the support of community. \nNo experience with meditation or movement is required. You are welcome exactly as you are\, with curiosity and a willingness to be present. \nThe Body Remembers Freedom is offered monthly on the first or second Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm ET and is offered in a hybrid format. During the InterPlay portion of the evening\, Linds Roberts guides participants joining on Zoom\, while Kaira Jewel guides those attending in person. The full group then comes back together for the closing practice. You are welcome to register for a single session\, select multiple dates\, or join the full series at a discounted rate. \nSessions are recorded and shared with all registrants after the program\, so you are welcome to sign up even if you cannot attend live. \nRegister for one session or the full series (at a discount!) below.\n2026: January 15 | February 12 | March 12 | April 9 | May 7 | June 18 | July 9 | August 6 \nIn-Person Registration:\nIn-Person Single Session\nIn-Person Full Series\n  \nOnline (Zoom) Registration:\nOnline Single Session\nOnline Full Series\n  \nVolunteering \nAll of our programs rely on volunteers to support our teachers and staff with various tasks and responsibilities. SUMMARY:Online: Overcoming Overwhelm - Techniques for Dealing with Work Stress
DESCRIPTION:Online: Overcoming Overwhelm – Techniques for Dealing with Work Stress \nwith David Perls \nThursday\, January 29th\, 2026 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET \nNote: Due to teacher illness\, we have moved this program to online only. \n \n“You can’t change the waves\, but you can learn to surf.” \n— Jon Kabat-Zinn \nIn our always-on\, 24/7 workplaces\, nearly 50% of US employees say they experience “a lot of stress” during the workday\, according to Gallup. Stress is tightly linked with disengagement\, burnout\, physical pain and declining well-being. Many employees report that job-related stress is negatively affecting their lives and relationships outside of work\, pushing them to consider quitting. \nWithout tools to cope\, these issues can leave us feeling anxious\, overwhelmed\, exhausted\, isolated and disconnected—from both ourselves and others. \nThis workshop will be highly experiential with reflection practices and small group discussions. Together\, we will be learning on-the-spot interventions to reduce stress\, including: \n\nBreathwork practices\nSomatic strategies\nResilience techniques\n\nSome of the most effective\, evidence-based ways to reduce stress combine changes in your body\, mind\, behavior\, and environment. \nIn this workshop\, you will learn actionable practices you can implement immediately for regulating the body\, calming the nervous system\, changing thoughts and behaviors\, cultivating supportive connections and strengthening your environment. \nJoin us to learn targeted and actionable ways to reduce stress in the workplace. \nNote: This program will be recorded. The recording will be sent to all registrants after the program\, so please feel free to sign up even if you cannot join in real time.\n \nOnline (Zoom) Registration:\nPlease register below to attend online via Zoom.
