SUMMARY:In-Person and Online: Nervous System Reset - An Introduction to Somatic Meditation
DESCRIPTION:In-Person and Online: Nervous System Reset – An Introduction to Somatic Meditation \nwith Kathy Cherry \nThursday\, February 5th\, 2026 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET \nIn-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nIn today’s fast-paced and uncertain world\, many of us live in a constant search for safety—grasping at familiar habits\, thoughts\, emotions\, or identities in an effort to feel grounded. Often\, these patterns are driven not by choice\, but by an overactivated nervous system responding to real or perceived threat. \nWithout awareness and support\, this cycle can leave us feeling overwhelmed\, disconnected from our bodies\, and trapped in reactions that no longer serve us. \nThis two-hour evening class introduces a new way forward. Drawing inspiration from the Nadī Sutta (The River) and integrating somatic meditation\, mindfulness practices\, and Somatic Experiencing® techniques\, we will explore how the body’s survival responses are actually expressions of intelligence—attempts to create stability and protection. The “reeds and grasses” in the river become a metaphor for the ways we cling to sensations\, emotions\, thoughts\, and identities when safety feels uncertain. \nThrough guided meditation\, body-based tracking\, gentle movement\, and moments of reflection\, you will learn to recognize these automatic patterns not as problems to fix\, but as signals pointing toward a deeper need for safety\, care\, and connection. By developing a felt sense of safety in the present moment\, the nervous system can begin to reorganize toward greater ease\, clarity\, and choice. \nIn this class\, you will: \n\nStart to understand your stress responses as intelligent attempts to create safety\nLearn simple\, body-based practices to access a felt sense of groundedness and support\nExperience how greater embodiment naturally brings clarity\, resilience\, and spaciousness\n\nJoin us to shift from grasping and survival toward presence\, self-trust\, and a more embodied sense of safety in your daily life. \nThis class is open to all. No prior experience with meditation or Somatic Experiencing® is required. \nNote: This program will be recorded. The recording will be sent to all registrants after the program\, so please feel free to sign up even if you cannot join in real time. \nIn-Person Registration:\nPlease register below to attend in-person. If you are able\, registering at the “Supporter” level enables others to attend at the “Subsidized” level. Thank you for your generosity! (Please note that the registration price includes a base level of teacher support\, and you will have the opportunity to donate more after the program.) \nIf you are registering via a mobile device such as a phone or tablet\, you can scroll right and left and up and down within the below form if it is partially obscured or cut off.\nCLICK HERE to open the registration form in a new browser window. \nBring a Buddy: If you are a member of our Circle of Friends\, you’re invited to bring a Dharma buddy to this program for no additional cost. SUMMARY:In-Person and Online: Opening to Grief - Making Space for Love\, Loss\, and What We Carry
DESCRIPTION:In-Person and Online: Opening to Grief – Making Space for Love\, Loss\, and What We Carry \nPart of The Body Remembers Freedom Series\n \nwith Kaira Jewel Lingo and Linds Roberts\n \nThursday\, February 12th\, 2026 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET \nIn-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nThis session invites us to gently open to grief as a living\, embodied experience. Through meditation\, reflection\, simple movement\, and welcoming our voices\, we practice meeting sorrow with compassion rather than avoidance. By honoring what has been lost while staying connected to ourselves and one another\, we discover how grief\, when welcomed\, can deepen our capacity for love\, connection\, and belonging. \nThis workshop is part of The Body Remembers Freedom\, a monthly series that brings together meditation\, dharma\, and embodied practice in a way that is relational\, grounded\, and alive. Each session includes time for meditation and contemplation\, a dharma talk or shared inquiry\, and InterPlay\, a playful and powerful practice using movement\, voice\, storytelling\, and deep listening to access the wisdom of the body. \nParticipants are supported to be: \n\nMore grounded and connected to their bodies and to one another\nMore accountable to themselves and to community\nReconnected to joy\, creativity\, and inner resource\nBetter able to meet life\, and themselves\, with compassion and presence\n\nIn times that can feel scary\, overwhelming\, or isolating\, these gatherings offer a place to put the phone down\, release accumulated stress\, and reconnect with what feels trustworthy and alive. We gather to remember the sacred in ordinary experience and to be held in the support of community. \nNo experience with meditation or movement is required. You are welcome exactly as you are\, with curiosity and a willingness to be present. \nThe Body Remembers Freedom is offered monthly on the first or second Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm ET and is offered in a hybrid format. During the InterPlay portion of the evening\, Linds Roberts guides participants joining on Zoom\, while Kaira Jewel guides those attending in person. The full group then comes back together for the closing practice. You are welcome to register for a single session\, select multiple dates\, or join the full series at a discounted rate. \nSessions are recorded and shared with all registrants after the program\, so you are welcome to sign up even if you cannot attend live. \nRegister for one session or the full series (at a discount!) below.\n2026: February 12 | March 12 | April 9 | May 7 | June 18 | July 9 | August 6 \nIn-Person Registration:\nIn-Person Single Session\nIn-Person Full Series\n  \nOnline (Zoom) Registration:\nOnline Single Session\nOnline Full Series\n  \nVolunteering \nAll of our programs rely on volunteers to support our teachers and staff with various tasks and responsibilities. SUMMARY:Online: The Healing Journey Meets The Spiritual Path - How Pain and Illness Can Be a Vehicle for Awakening
DESCRIPTION:Online: The Healing Journey Meets The Spiritual Path – How Pain and Illness Can Be a Vehicle for Awakening \nwith Paul Epstein \nThursday\, February 26th\, 2026 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET \n \nThere is no cure for the human condition; there is\, however\, a healing process and a spiritual path. How we choose to relate to\, be with\, and face our pain and life’s difficult challenges is as important as what we do to treat them. \nThis workshop with Insight meditation teacher Dr. Paul Epstein will be an exploration of how the teachings of the Buddha and mindfulness and compassion practice can be integrated in the process of facing and healing the dis-eases of our bodies\, minds\, hearts\, and spirits. \nWe will sit with the questions: What is healing and how does it happen? How can we welcome and open to our pain and illness as an opportunity and the very vehicle for awakening\, and what happens when we do? We’ll explore how being with the truth of suffering is at the heart of the healing journey and is the path to the end of suffering. \n“When any experience of body\, heart\, or mind keeps repeating in consciousness\, it is a signal that this visitor is asking for a deeper and fuller attention….Under all the tears\, the pain\, the fear\, and the anger we have contracted ourself around\, we can find freedom\, joy\, and ease in the face of all life.” – from Jack Kornfield\, A Path with Heart \nNote: This program will be recorded. The recording will be sent to all registrants after the program\, so please feel free to sign up even if you cannot join in real time. \nOnline Registration:\nPlease register below. If you are able\, registering at the “Supporter” level enables others to attend at the “Subsidized” level. Thank you for your generosity!
