I felt as if I had gone around the world with so many people and different methods of practice. Each day I would write the date\, the instructor and what it meant to me. Near the end of the second week\, I noticed I was feeling more positive\, calm and joyful. This was really FUN!” \n“Participating in the guidance from such a wonderful variety of experienced teachers absolutely … deepened my practice and gave me many new specific approaches that I have begun to use in my daily practice and quiet moments.” \n“Loved this amazing offering—a freestyle primer/immersion in NYI meditation teachers’ various styles. Really landed in my life at the right moment\, an energy boost to my own practice.” \n“This course has been a way to “begin again” the practice of meditation. It has led me to a profound commitment to self-care\, self-awareness and self-healing after the overwhelming care-taking and loss of my mother. I looked forward to each day of meeting a new teacher\, someone to accompany me on my journey.” \n“The course was great because it helped me see the flexibility I have in how to meditate and I learned more about Buddhism.” \n“It was a tremendous boost to feel that someone was waiting for me to sit.” \n“I am very grateful I stumbled across this. I really enjoyed it and also felt it was a very good value for the amount of content. I look forward to participating again next year.” \n“Thank you for this course. The teachers and content were wonderful. When you offer this again\, I will take it!”

SUMMARY:In-Person: Tai Chi - Meditation in Motion
DESCRIPTION:In-Person: Tai Chi – Meditation in Motion \nwith Marijke Eliasberg \nWednesday\, August 6th\, 2025 | 5:15pm – 6:00pm \nLocation: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nIn the Insight\, or vipassana\, meditation tradition\, we talk a lot about noticing the breath\, but what about the rest of the body? \nIn fact\, tai chi is often referred to as “meditation in motion.” This practice is one of slowing down while still feeling energized\, and learning to relax our muscles while maintaining precision. \nThis practice is well-suited to do before sitting meditation—tai chi is one way to get in touch with the wholeness of the breathing body. Some benefits of tai chi include improved muscle strength\, balance\, and flexibility\, and an increase in energy and focus. \nJoin Marijke Eliasberg\, a certified shifu (teacher) of tai chi\, to reconnect with your body and breath\, and empower yourself with basic tools to help maintain a balanced and healthy mind. Eliasberg is a long-time student of the tai chi Great Grandmaster William C. C. Chen\, and is excited to share the joys of practicing this art with the NYI community. \nAll are welcome! No previous experience with tai chi is required to join the sessions. You are free to sign up for a single session\, the whole series\, or anything in-between. This summer series has three sessions: July 2\, July 9\, and August 6. \nThis offering is part of New York Insight’s Mindful Movement series. \nRegistration:\nPlease register below for one or more sessions in this series. (Please note that the registration price includes a base level of teacher support\, and you will have the opportunity to donate more after the program.) \nIf you are registering via a mobile device such as a phone or tablet\, you can scroll right and left and up and down within the below form if it is partially obscured or cut off.\nCLICK HERE to open the registration form in a new browser window.

SUMMARY:In-Person and Online: Being Human Takes Practice
DESCRIPTION:In-Person and Online: Being Human Takes Practice \nwith Jeff Warren \nThursday\, August 14th\, 2025 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET \nIn-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nBeing human is hard. Meditation helps in about a million different ways\, and one big specific way: it helps us create space around our very human challenges. \nJoin teacher Jeff Warren to explore how meditation can lead to more self-acceptance and joy. \nThe simple skills gathered in meditation practice—the concentration and the clarity\, the equanimity and the care—lie at the headwaters of mental and emotional and spiritual health. Everyone can access these skills at their own pace and in their own way. As someone with both ADHD and bipolar\, Jeff is especially passionate about helping neurodivergent folks find their way into both a supportive practice and balanced view of practice. \nThrough short guided sessions and open discussion\, we’ll explore how practice can be both accessible and fun. You’ll leave feeling empowered about the creative possibilities of meditation\, and hopefully able to relate to your own mental health quirks in a more welcoming and less stigmatizing way. \nJoin us to explore the sacred mystery of the moment\, the weirdness of reality\, and the many possibilities inherent in our lived experiences. \nRegistration:\nIn-Person Registration:\nPlease register below. If you are able\, registering at the “Supporter” level enables others to attend at the “Subsidized” level. Thank you for your generosity! \n \nOnline Registration:\nPlease register below.
