Really opened up my world to who’s out there and the different approaches to practice.”  \n“I didn’t want it to end! It was so grounding and supportive for me and helped me quiet the chaos around us.” \n“It gave me an appreciation of different meditation styles and allowed me to consider my own practice differently. It also held me accountable\, since there was an email every day with a new session.” \n“Diversity\, diversity\, diversity. The range of teachers\, styles and ways of being with the mind\, body\, breath and all aspects of this dynamic human experience.”  \n“It’s been so helpful during an especially hard month. I feel it’s deepened my practice and I’ve gotten a lot of insight out of a few of the guests in particular. Now my friend and I will continue to meet at 6:00am even without the structure of this program which seems like a great outcome.”  \n“I looked forward to a new meditation every morning. I found it both exciting and enriching to learn about all the different ways in which we can practice meditation. I took notes of what resonated most with me and I am still learning so much.” \n“My favorite aspect was the ability to learn and be in practice with different teachers. The live events were very much appreciated.”  \n“I enjoyed the whole concept and I really appreciated that  the offerings were all 20 minutes long—it made it sustainable at a certain time of day for me.” \n“I loved learning that there are many ways to connect to sangha online.”  \n“I enjoyed the surprise of not knowing the next guest or what they were going to bring.”  \n“This is an amazing program and the fact that I can revisit the meditations that were most meaningful to me is a plus.”

SUMMARY:In-Person and Online: This Is It - The Opportunity of This Moment
DESCRIPTION:In-Person and Online: This Is It – The Opportunity of This Moment \nPart of The Body Remembers Freedom Series\n \nwith Kaira Jewel Lingo and Linds Roberts\n \nThursday\, August 6th\, 2026 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET \nIn-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nWhat if this moment—just as it is—is already enough? In this closing session of the Body Remembers Freedom series\, we turn toward the immediacy of our lived experience\, discovering that the freedom we’ve been exploring is not somewhere else\, but right here in how we meet this moment. Through meditation\, embodied practice\, and shared inquiry\, we integrate what has been touched throughout the series—allowing insight\, presence\, and compassion to settle into the body and take root in our daily lives. We also take time to reconnect with our deepest aspirations for how we want to live\, sensing what feels most true and life-giving now. Whether you are returning or joining for the first time\, this session offers a space to arrive fully\, trust your inner knowing\, and explore what it means to live what we remember—right here\, in this moment. \nThis workshop is part of The Body Remembers Freedom\, a monthly series that brings together meditation\, dharma\, and embodied practice in a way that is relational\, grounded\, and alive. Each session includes time for meditation and contemplation\, a dharma talk or shared inquiry\, and InterPlay\, a playful and powerful practice using movement\, voice\, storytelling\, and deep listening to access the wisdom of the body. \nParticipants are supported to be: \n\nMore grounded and connected to their bodies and to one another\nMore accountable to themselves and to community\nReconnected to joy\, creativity\, and inner resource\nBetter able to meet life\, and themselves\, with compassion and presence\n\nIn times that can feel scary\, overwhelming\, or isolating\, these gatherings offer a place to put the phone down\, release accumulated stress\, and reconnect with what feels trustworthy and alive. We gather to remember the sacred in ordinary experience and to be held in the support of community. \nNo experience with meditation or movement is required. You are welcome exactly as you are\, with curiosity and a willingness to be present. \nThe Body Remembers Freedom is offered one Thursday a month from 6:30 to 8:30 pm ET and is offered in a hybrid format. During the InterPlay portion of the evening\, Linds Roberts guides participants joining on Zoom\, while Kaira Jewel guides those attending in person. The full group then comes back together for the closing practice. \nSessions are recorded and shared with all registrants after the program\, so you are welcome to sign up even if you cannot attend live. \nIn-Person Registration:\nIn-Person Single Session\n  \nOnline (Zoom) Registration:\nOnline Single Session\n  \nVolunteering \nAll of our programs rely on volunteers to support our teachers and staff with various tasks and responsibilities. Volunteering allows you to participate in our programs at no cost. To inquire about volunteering opportunities\, please fill out our inquiry form\, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

SUMMARY:In-Person: Qigong for Emotional Alchemy - A Half-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In-Person: Qigong for Emotional Alchemy – A Half-Day Workshop \nwith Chia-Ti Chiu \nSaturday\, August 8th\, 2026 | 10:00am – 1:00pm ET \nLocation: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nQigong is a gentle movement practice that has been practiced for millenia. It’s been shown to reduce stress and improve energy\, but people have also reported that it can help them with processing emotions as well. \nQigong helps us not only become more aware of how we feel\, but gives us the ability to move through our emotions with more flow. Qigong as an embodied practice allows the body to “speak” when the mind wants to shut down or react. \nAccording to Traditional Chinese Medicine\, our emotions affect the organs\, immune system\, and the autonomic functions of the body. Our health suffers or flourishes depending on how we digest our emotional experience of life. During this half-day workshop\, we’ll explore how qigong supports us to process\, integrate\, and release held emotions and accumulated tension. \nIn addition to qigong\, we’ll practice meditation\, active listening\, and journaling to further understand how to alchemize our emotional distress into more ease. \nIn-Person Registration:\nPlease register below. If you are able\, registering at the “Supporter” level enables others to attend at the “Subsidized” level. Thank you for your generosity! (Please note that the registration price includes a base level of teacher support\, and you will have the opportunity to donate more after the program.) \nIf you are registering via a mobile device such as a phone or tablet\, you can scroll right and left and up and down within the below form if it is partially obscured or cut off.\nCLICK HERE to open the registration form in a new browser window. \nBring a Buddy: If you are a member of our Circle of Friends\, you’re invited to bring a Dharma buddy to this program for no additional cost. Simply select “1” from the drop-down next to the Bring a Buddy level\, and enter your special discount code (provided in your Circle of Friends welcome email) to reduce the price to that of a single\, standard registration. This registration will grant attendance for you and your buddy. \n \nVolunteering \nAll of our programs rely on volunteers to support our teachers and staff with various tasks and responsibilities. Volunteering allows you to participate in our programs at no cost. To inquire about volunteering opportunities\, please fill out our inquiry form\, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

SUMMARY:In-Person and Online: Where Meditation Leads - Into the Stream of Life Just Happening
DESCRIPTION:In-Person and Online: Where Meditation Leads – Into the Stream of Life Just Happening \nwith Jeff Warren \nThursday\, August 13th\, 2026 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET \nIn-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nWhere does meditation and / or committed practice lead? \nOver the course of this evening program\, teacher Jeff Warren will lead a discussion into how meditation can help us drop from the turbulent surface layer of mind and circumstance\, into the deeper stream of life just happening. This kind of awareness is both ordinary and sacred\, and available to anyone at any time. \nArguably\, the point of meditation practice is to help us connect to that kind of awareness or being. Through short guided sessions and open discussion\, we’ll explore the core skills of practice\, and how they can be customized to fit our circumstances and wiring. We’ll explore some ideas about mental health\, and maybe even brainstorm together about how we might create greater access to practice and practice communities. \nHopefully you’ll leave feeling connected to a larger movement of care\, and excited about the creative possibilities of practice. Maybe you’ll relate to your own mental health quirks in a more welcoming and less stigmatizing way. Because understanding that our specific quirks and challenges also have their place is one of the core reorientations of practice! \nJoin us to \n\nLearn about or refresh meditation practice\nBuild connection and trust in yourself\nDiscover the best ways to meditate for your unique mental wiring\nDrop into a space of calm underneath the surface turbulence of life\n\nNote: This program will be recorded. The recording will be sent to all registrants after the program\, so please feel free to sign up even if you cannot join in real time. \nIn-Person Registration:\nPlease register below to attend in-person. If you are able\, registering at the “Supporter” level enables others to attend at the “Subsidized” level. Thank you for your generosity! SUMMARY:In-Person: Learning to Be With What Is - A Half-day Yoga Retreat
DESCRIPTION:In-Person: Learning to Be With What Is – A Half-day Yoga Retreat \nwith Oneika Mays \nSaturday\, August 15th\, 2026 | 10:00am – 1:00pm ET \nLocation: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nThese are hard times. And many of us are discovering something: caring deeply is exhausting. It’s hard to stay present without being swept away. Hard to keep your heart open without losing your footing. \nThis half-day retreat is an invitation to find steady ground; by learning to be with what is without being undone by it. Through gentle asana\, therapeutic yoga\, and yoga nidra\, we’ll explore upekkha (equanimity) as something alive in the body. \nEquanimity is not indifference. It is not checking out. It is the capacity to stay present with everything — joy\, grief\, chaos\, uncertainty — without being tossed around by any of it. \nYou’ll leave with a clear understanding of the difference between equanimity and indifference\, a body-based practice you can return to when things feel overwhelming\, and the direct experience of steadiness. \nEveryone is welcome. \nIn-Person Registration:\nPlease register below. If you are able\, registering at the “Supporter” level enables others to attend at the “Subsidized” level. Thank you for your generosity! SUMMARY:Online: The Art of Deep Listening from Buddhist and Quaker Traditions
DESCRIPTION:Online: The Art of Deep Listening from Buddhist and Quaker Traditions \nwith Valerie Brown \nSaturday\, August 22nd\, 2026 | 10:00am – 1:00pm ET \n \nMost of us listen with an agenda. We listen to respond\, to fix\, for confirmation. But what happens when we listen from a deeper place? Both Buddhist and Quaker traditions offer practices for exactly this: learning to stay present before we know what to say. \nDharma teacher Valerie Brown has spent three decades practicing at the intersection of these two contemplative paths\, first as a student of Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh and later as a member of the Religious Society of Friends. In this workshop\, she’ll introduce deep listening as it appears in both traditions: a way of reflection and exploration that connects our inner life to outward action without forcing (or needing) answers. \nThrough guided meditation\, shared silence\, and contemplative questioning drawn from both traditions\, participants will explore how to sit with what is unfinished\, listen below habitual thought\, and let deeper knowing emerge at its own pace. \nOpen to practitioners at all levels. No prior experience with either tradition is needed. \nNote: This program will be recorded. The recording will be sent to all registrants after the program\, so please feel free to sign up even if you cannot join in real time. \nOnline Registration:\nPlease register below. If you are able\, registering at the “Supporter” level enables others to attend at the “Subsidized” level. Thank you for your generosity! SUMMARY:In-Person and Online: Dharma Rhythms Summer Music Festival - All About the Bass
DESCRIPTION:In-Person and Online: Dharma Rhythms Summer Music Festival – All About the Bass \nfeaturing John Ferrara\, Marty Jaffe Trio\, Jeremiah Hosea\, and Marguerite Cox \nSaturday\, August 29th\, 2026 | 6:30pm – 9:00pm ET \nIn-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nArt has always held a special place in our New York City sangha\, and this summer we’ve celebrated that spirit with a season of community music offerings. We close out the series with our biggest night yet: “All About the Bass” gives the spotlight entirely to the low end\, bringing together four exceptional bass musicians — John Ferrara\, Marty Jaffe\, Jeremiah Hosea\, and Marguerite Cox — for an evening of solo and ensemble sets spanning classical\, jazz\, and fusion traditions. Each artist brings their own renowned voice to the instrument\, from Marguerite Cox’s classical upright bass training to Marty Jaffe’s deep roots in the New York jazz scene\, from John Ferrara’s unique tapping technique that conjures the sound of piano and percussion to Jeremiah Hosea’s expressive\, soulful approach to the low end\, making this our most anticipated performance of the summer. \nCome settle in for an evening that’s as much about presence and listening as it is about rhythm — a chance to experience music the way we practice together: attentively\, communally\, and with an open heart. \nThis musical gathering is part of New York Insight’s Dharma Rhythms Summer Music Festival. \nIn-Person Registration:\nPlease use form below to register for in-person attendance.
