DESCRIPTION:Faith: A Buddhist Perspective\n \nwith Sharon Salzberg and Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel\n \nFriday\, April 26th\, 2019 | 7:00pm – 9:00pm\nSaturday\, April 27th\, 2019 | 10:00am – 5:00pm\n \nIn contemporary culture\, we often struggle with the concept of faith and may wonder if it is a necessary element for spiritual development. \nMany of us have experienced a type of faith threaded with the disempowerment that comes from handing over agency to an authority figure\, or associate it with dogma\, fundamentalism\, and being silenced. \nNew York Insight is honored to host Sharon Salzberg and Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel\, two renowned Buddhist teachers teaching together for the first time in NYC\, for a two-part workshop exploring a different sense of faith. \nWe will discuss how faith can connect us to a deeper place of strength within us and to a bigger picture of life. This type of faith increases confidence\, openness\, and our ability to recognize something outside of our immediate circumstances as describing who we are. \nSharon and Elizabeth invite you to join them in an exploration of this lively and provocative topic which takes us right to the heart of the human condition. \nThis topic will be offered as a Friday evening program as well as a full Daylong practice on Saturday. Suitable for both new and experienced meditators\, the program includes discourses\, discussion\, and guided meditations. \nPlease join us for one session\, or both\, as these two days can stand alone as complete experiences or build on each other for a rich weekend of practice and discussion. Join us as we unpack faith and its role in contemporary life and spirituality. \nThe registration fee includes teacher support. If you wish to give more in addition to the registration fee\, the total (registration fees and additional contributions) will be shared between NYI and the teacher(s). \nRegistration:\n \nNote About Registration:\nIf you have questions about your registration (cancellation policy\, membership discount\, email confirmation\, etc.)\, please read our FAQs. Members receive 15% off of the Sustaining Rate via a code provided in the membership email confirmation. \nNYI is committed to ensuring that our programs are available to all\, regardless of ability to pay. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. No financial assistance application is needed when registering for a program. \nWe offer new sliding scale fees\, and ask that you choose the highest fee you are able to afford based on your financial means. The Sustaining rate represents the actual program operating cost. If you can afford this level or higher\, you assist our efforts to offer reduced rates and support ongoing financial assistance.
