SUMMARY:In-Person and Online: Dharma Rhythms Summer Music Festival - The Demo Tapes
DESCRIPTION:In-Person and Online: Dharma Rhythms Summer Music Festival – The Demo Tapes \nfeaturing Calli Medley with special guest Mac McCarty +Kidd Twist \nSaturday\, July 25th\, 2026 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET \nIn-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nJoin us for an evening of contemplative songs and sounds from Calli Medley with special guest\, Mac McCarty +Kidd Twist. Calli will be performing songs from her debut acoustic album\, The Demo Tapes. These are songs inspired by her life as an actor\, backpacker\, and human. Having recorded her album on cassette\, Calli looks for ways to bring more human-ness to music—live\, without autotune\, special effects or splicing—to challenge the ever-engrossing edited and technological world. \nFolk sprinkled with some funk\, the night will include a wide array of sounds and topics\, including a few songs from the band she also plays with\, Mac McCarty +Kidd Twist. The evening will start with a 15 minute unguided sit\, to bring everyone in the space to the room\, and to the music. We hope you will come and connect with us. \nThis musical gathering is part of New York Insight’s Dharma Rhythms Summer Music Festival. \nIn-Person Registration:\nPlease use form below to register for in-person attendance. SUMMARY:In-Person: Tai Chi - Meditation in Motion
DESCRIPTION:In-Person: Tai Chi – Meditation in Motion \nwith Marijke Eliasberg \nWednesday\, July 29th\, 2026 | 5:30pm – 6:30pm \nLocation: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nIn the Insight\, or vipassana\, meditation tradition\, we talk a lot about noticing the breath\, but what about the rest of the body? \nIn fact\, tai chi is often referred to as “meditation in motion.” This practice is one of slowing down while still feeling energized\, and learning to relax our muscles while maintaining precision. \nThis practice is well-suited to do before sitting meditation—tai chi is one way to get in touch with the wholeness of the breathing body. Some benefits of tai chi include improved muscle strength\, balance\, and flexibility\, and an increase in energy and focus. \nAll are welcome! No previous experience with tai chi is required to join the sessions. You are free to sign up for a single session\, the whole series\, or anything in-between. This series runs from July 1st through July 29th. \nThis offering is part of New York Insight’s Mindful Movement series. \nRegistration:\nPlease register below for one or more sessions in this series. (Please note that the registration price includes a base level of teacher support\, and you will have the opportunity to donate more after the program.) \nIf you are registering via a mobile device such as a phone or tablet\, you can scroll right and left and up and down within the below form if it is partially obscured or cut off.\nCLICK HERE to open the registration form in a new browser window.

SUMMARY:In-Person: Relax and Settle the Mind - A Sound Bath Meditation
DESCRIPTION:In-Person: Relax and Settle the Mind – A Sound Bath Meditation \nwith Lisa Cooper \nFriday\, July 31st\, 2026 | 7:00pm – 9:00pm ET \nLocation: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nMany of us move through our days feeling overstimulated\, mentally busy\, or disconnected from the body. In Insight meditation\, the breath is often the primary anchor—but it can sometimes be difficult to settle the mind or sustain attention. \nSound offers another way of supporting awareness. The resonant tones of the bowls provide a steady field of sensation that can make it easier to rest attention in the body and allow the mind to settle more naturally. \nThis session uses crystal singing bowls to create sustained vibrations that can be felt as well as heard\, supporting a direct\, embodied experience of meditation. The practice begins with awareness of the breath\, a body scan\, and a brief guided meditation\, followed by an extended period of sound. \nSound can serve as a gentle anchor for attention\, offering a continuous thread of awareness that supports both relaxation and presence. As the body settles\, participants may find it easier to remain with their experience moment to moment. \nParticipants may experience: \n\nA deep sense of relaxation and nervous system regulation\nGreater connection to the body as a foundation for meditation\nA quieter\, more settled mind and an increased sense of ease\n\nNo prior experience with meditation or sound baths is needed. \nJoin us to explore meditation through listening\, and to cultivate greater ease\, balance\, and presence in both practice and daily life. \nRegistration:\nPlease register below. If you are able\, registering at the “Supporter” level enables others to attend at the “Subsidized” level. Thank you for your generosity! \nBring a Buddy: If you are a member of our Circle of Friends\, you’re invited to bring a Dharma buddy to this program for no additional cost. Simply select “1” from the drop-down next to the Bring a Buddy level\, and enter your special discount code (provided in your Circle of Friends welcome email) to reduce the price to that of a single\, standard registration. This registration will grant attendance for you and your buddy. \n\nVolunteering \nAll of our programs rely on volunteers to support our teachers and staff with various tasks and responsibilities. Volunteering allows you to participate in our programs at no cost. To inquire about volunteering opportunities\, please fill out our inquiry form\, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

It also held me accountable\, since there was an email every day with a new session.” \n“Diversity\, diversity\, diversity. The range of teachers\, styles and ways of being with the mind\, body\, breath and all aspects of this dynamic human experience.”  \n“It’s been so helpful during an especially hard month. I feel it’s deepened my practice and I’ve gotten a lot of insight out of a few of the guests in particular. Now my friend and I will continue to meet at 6:00am even without the structure of this program which seems like a great outcome.”  \n“I looked forward to a new meditation every morning. I found it both exciting and enriching to learn about all the different ways in which we can practice meditation. I took notes of what resonated most with me and I am still learning so much.” \n“My favorite aspect was the ability to learn and be in practice with different teachers. The live events were very much appreciated.”  \n“I enjoyed the whole concept and I really appreciated that  the offerings were all 20 minutes long—it made it sustainable at a certain time of day for me.” \n“I loved learning that there are many ways to connect to sangha online.”  \n“I enjoyed the surprise of not knowing the next guest or what they were going to bring.”  \n“This is an amazing program and the fact that I can revisit the meditations that were most meaningful to me is a plus.”

SUMMARY:In-Person: Tai Chi - Meditation in Motion
DESCRIPTION:In-Person: Tai Chi – Meditation in Motion \nwith Marijke Eliasberg \nWednesday\, August 5th\, 2026 | 5:30pm – 6:30pm \nLocation: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nIn the Insight\, or vipassana\, meditation tradition\, we talk a lot about noticing the breath\, but what about the rest of the body? This series runs from August 5th through 26th.

SUMMARY:In-Person and Online: This Is It - The Opportunity of This Moment
DESCRIPTION:In-Person and Online: This Is It – The Opportunity of This Moment \nPart of The Body Remembers Freedom Series\n \nwith Kaira Jewel Lingo and Linds Roberts\n \nThursday\, August 6th\, 2026 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET (optionally\, bring your dinner at 5:15pm to enjoy in community) \nIn-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nWhat if this moment—just as it is—is already enough? In this closing session of the Body Remembers Freedom series\, we turn toward the immediacy of our lived experience\, discovering that the freedom we’ve been exploring is not somewhere else\, but right here in how we meet this moment. Through meditation\, embodied practice\, and shared inquiry\, we integrate what has been touched throughout the series—allowing insight\, presence\, and compassion to settle into the body and take root in our daily lives. We also take time to reconnect with our deepest aspirations for how we want to live\, sensing what feels most true and life-giving now. Whether you are returning or joining for the first time\, this session offers a space to arrive fully\, trust your inner knowing\, and explore what it means to live what we remember—right here\, in this moment. \nIf you are joining in person at NY Insight\, you are optionally invited to arrive at 5:15pm and bring your dinner. We will eat together for a few minutes in mindfulness and then have time to share and connect before the class begins at 6:30pm. \nThis workshop is part of The Body Remembers Freedom\, a monthly series that brings together meditation\, dharma\, and embodied practice in a way that is relational\, grounded\, and alive. Each session includes time for meditation and contemplation\, a dharma talk or shared inquiry\, and InterPlay\, a playful and powerful practice using movement\, voice\, storytelling\, and deep listening to access the wisdom of the body. \nParticipants are supported to be: \n\nMore grounded and connected to their bodies and to one another\nMore accountable to themselves and to community\nReconnected to joy\, creativity\, and inner resource\nBetter able to meet life\, and themselves\, with compassion and presence\n\nIn times that can feel scary\, overwhelming\, or isolating\, these gatherings offer a place to put the phone down\, release accumulated stress\, and reconnect with what feels trustworthy and alive. We gather to remember the sacred in ordinary experience and to be held in the support of community. \nNo experience with meditation or movement is required. You are welcome exactly as you are\, with curiosity and a willingness to be present. \nThe Body Remembers Freedom is offered one Thursday a month from 6:30 to 8:30 pm ET and is offered in a hybrid format. During the InterPlay portion of the evening\, Linds Roberts guides participants joining on Zoom\, while Kaira Jewel guides those attending in person. The full group then comes back together for the closing practice. \nSessions are recorded and shared with all registrants after the program\, so you are welcome to sign up even if you cannot attend live. \nIn-Person Registration:\nIn-Person Single Session\n  \nOnline (Zoom) Registration:\nOnline Single Session\n  \nVolunteering \nAll of our programs rely on volunteers to support our teachers and staff with various tasks and responsibilities. Volunteering allows you to participate in our programs at no cost. To inquire about volunteering opportunities\, please fill out our inquiry form\, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

SUMMARY:In-Person: Qigong for Emotional Alchemy - A Half-Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In-Person: Qigong for Emotional Alchemy – A Half-Day Workshop \nwith Chia-Ti Chiu \nSaturday\, August 8th\, 2026 | 10:00am – 1:00pm ET \nLocation: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street\, 12th Floor \n \nQigong is a gentle movement practice that has been practiced for millenia. It’s been shown to reduce stress and improve energy\, but people have also reported that it can help them with processing emotions as well. \nQigong helps us not only become more aware of how we feel\, but gives us the ability to move through our emotions with more flow. Qigong as an embodied practice allows the body to “speak” when the mind wants to shut down or react. \nAccording to Traditional Chinese Medicine\, our emotions affect the organs\, immune system\, and the autonomic functions of the body. Our health suffers or flourishes depending on how we digest our emotional experience of life. During this half-day workshop\, we’ll explore how qigong supports us to process\, integrate\, and release held emotions and accumulated tension. \nIn addition to qigong\, we’ll practice meditation\, active listening\, and journaling to further understand how to alchemize our emotional distress into more ease. \nIn-Person Registration:\nPlease register below. If you are able\, registering at the “Supporter” level enables others to attend at the “Subsidized” level. Thank you for your generosity! \n \nVolunteering \nAll of our programs rely on volunteers to support our teachers and staff with various tasks and responsibilities.
