In-Person and Online: A Path of Radical Inclusion – An Introduction to Buddhist Chaplaincy
with Mary Remington
Thursday, October 1st, 2026 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET
In-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street, 12th Floor
Amidst our troubled modernity, how do we not turn away from the suffering that is before us and within us? How can we just stay, right here with this moment in all its difficulty and potentiality, and offer our whole self toward universal flourishing?
The Buddha asked these very kinds of questions… over 2,500 years ago.
Today, Buddhist Chaplaincy is a kind of response to these evergreen questions, grounded in the Buddha’s teachings of compassion and wisdom.
Buddhist Chaplaincy exists not only as a spiritual caregiving profession found in healthcare, prisons, and the military, but is also as a way of spiritual living that meets all of life with an indiscriminate heart.
At its core, Buddhist chaplaincy is about “right view,” a wholehearted way of seeing reality beyond preference and agenda, and meeting the moment through acts characterized by non-separation, relationality, and great tenderness.
During this evening together, ordained Zen Buddhist chaplain Mary Myoku Remington will explore radical inclusivity as it relates to our lived experiences of suffering and joy, encourage inner inquiry on letting go of what separates us, and share her own direct experiences on what service has taught her about loving.
