In-Person: Awake in Urban Nature Meditation – Roosevelt Island
with Maho Kawachi
Saturday, November 22nd, 2025 | 10:30am – 1:00pm
Location: Roosevelt Island, New York, NY
Roosevelt Island may not seem to be an obvious destination for a nature meditation gathering but, starting with the amazing view from the Tramway, one feels transported to a serene, surprisingly green, strip of land surrounded by water, in the shadow of the city.
Please join us for a guided meditative walk through the many green spaces of this island in the East River. While practicing walking, standing, and sitting meditation together, we will engage our five senses, notice thoughts, feelings, and reactions, and give ourselves an opportunity to open to our body, heart, and environment.
This class will be conducted in Noble Silence. There will be time for sharing at the end.
Beginners and seasoned practitioners all welcome.
Along with a tram and shuttle bus ride, we will walk about 2 miles total.
Meet Up Point: Tram station at 59th Street/2nd Avenue
Registrants will receive detailed instructions about location and logistics the day before the event.
Fee: $25
Please bring something to sit on, like a picnic sheet or plastic bag. Please dress according to the weather. If it rains, please bring appropriate rain gear.
