Day of Insight: A Daylong Meditation Retreat

with Rosemary Blake & Nancy Glimm

Sunday, March 24th, 2019 | 10:00am – 5:00pm

“Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your own unguarded thoughts.” –The Buddha

In modern society we are surrounded by noise – traffic noise, endless emails and phone calls, the chatter of people, and so forth. A silent retreat day is a period of extended inward reflection allowing you to achieve a greater clarity of mind.

The retreat day will be one of noble silence for those who want to deepen their practice. It will include sitting, walking, and select inspirational readings for contemplation. Individual interviews will be available. It is suggested that participants bring their lunch to maintain the meditative atmosphere and concentration.

The registration fee includes teacher support. If you wish to give more in addition to the registration fee, the total (registration fees and additional contributions) will be shared between NYI and the teacher(s).

Note About Registration:

New York Insight Meditation Center is offering a new structure for registration. Members receive 15% off of the Sustaining Rate.

NYI is committed to ensuring that our programs are available to all, regardless of ability to pay. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. No financial assistance application is needed when registering for a program.

We offer new sliding scale fees, and ask that you choose the highest fee you are able to afford based on your financial means. The Sustaining rate represents the actual program operating cost. If you can afford this level or higher, you assist our efforts to offer reduced rates and support ongoing financial assistance. If you are unable to pay the Base Fee, you can set up a payment plan or let us know how much you are able to pay at this time by emailing registration@nyimc.org.

Rosemary Blake

Rosemary BlakeRosemary Blake has been a meditator for more than 30 years. She was introduced to the dharma in 2003 at the first Insight Meditation Society POC retreat, an event she attended annually for the next ten years. Her experience in 2013 of IMS’ three-month retreat both deepened her practice and created a commitment to attend a month-long vipassana meditation retreat every year. She completed Larry Yang’s two year Commit2Dharma study program and began teaching insight meditation at New York Insight after her graduation from Spirit Rock’s fourth Community Dharma Leaders Program. In addition, she recently completed her tenure as President of the Board at Insight Meditation Society in Barre, MA. Rosemary is grateful for all that this practice provides.

“We need to investigate our minds and mental programs more thoroughly and more often…This input is the kamma that leads to the end of kamma, and is the hinge point of the Buddha’s teaching. In it’s deepest fulfillment… it can lead to complete liberation.” Ajahn Sucitto
