In-Person and Online: Embodied Awareness – Finding Inner Safety through Somatic Meditation
with Kathy Cherry
Sunday, March 22nd, 2026 | 10:00am – 5:00pm ET
In-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street, 12th Floor
In Buddhist teachings, the image of someone swept down a fast-moving river—grasping at reeds and branches that cannot hold—mirrors how we cling to familiar thoughts, emotions, and identities when safety feels uncertain. In this daylong retreat, we will explore this metaphor as a doorway into understanding our own nervous system. We’ll use the spirit of these teachings to illuminate how our survival responses express an intelligent body seeking stability.
Throughout the day, you’ll have repeated opportunities to slow down, practice, and directly experience how safety becomes more available through embodied awareness. Through somatic meditation, mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing® techniques, gentle movement, guided inquiry, and shared reflection, you’ll learn to listen to sensation, pace your experience, and allow your system to settle.
As groundedness grows, clarity and choice naturally emerge. This retreat is open to all; practices are gentle, invitational, and adaptable to your needs.
