Saturday, October 12th, 2019 from 9:00am – 6:00pm
Sunday, October 13th, 2019 from 9:00am – 4:00pm
Location: 28 West 27th Street, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10001
Please try to arrive about 8:30am on Saturday to allow for check-in.
Parking: If you are driving, there is street parking available on the weekend, but please read the signs because it is block by block on Saturday. Please add sufficient time.
Lunch: In respect for noble silence and for your convenience, we are offering a special, discounted lunch menu from Bombay Sandwich (Sharon Salzberg’s favorite store). If you order through us, prices for the lunch selections include a discount with no sales tax charged.
You are also welcome to bring your own lunch or order from elsewhere. We have a small fridge and microwave available at NYI. In consideration of our love for the earth and all sentient beings, we encourage plant-based diet when dining in our sacred space of the meditation hall. Thank you.
Order lunch with credit card for Saturday and/or Sunday below (please read carefully and select the correct day for each desired lunch item in the special limited menu list below ). ***The due date to place all lunch orders is October 10th at 6pm EST.***
Notes about food:
All items are vegan. The “Kale and Hearty Salad w/ French Lentil,” “Vegan Palak Paneer Bowl,” and “Chana Masala Bowl” are gluten free. Click HERE for the Bombay Sandwich menu if you want more information about ingredients.
There will be vegan paneer and sauces available on the side.
No substitutions or changes are available if you order through us.
If you prefer to access the entire menu or make any changes/substitutions, go to Bombay Sandwich in person during the weekend. If you mention that you are with NYI, you will be offered 10% discount. Sales tax will be charged. (You can also order online, but the 10% discount will not be available.)
For those placing orders through NYI, your lunch will be delivered to our center and we will distribute during the lunch break.
Masala chai, water, tea, and snacks will be available during the retreat.
To be eco-friendly, bring a reusable water bottle with you if you have one.
Other notes about preparing for the retreat:
Please be prepared to offer dana (donation) to the teachers and IMS (Insight Meditation Society) at the end of the retreat. We accept cash, check, or credit card. (Registration fees only included NYI’s direct costs of running the weekend program.)
Wear comfortable clothes and bring layers if desired. There will be mindful movement.
The retreat will be held in noble silence, a quieting of the body and voice that helps cultivate a calm and peaceful retreat environment. For the duration of each retreat, participants are requested to refrain from any form of verbal or nonverbal communication, including evenings when at home. Please ask the people you live with to respect and support your practice of noble silence.
You will be expected to turn off electronic devices in the retreat space.
We are scent-free environment– please refrain from wearing strongly scented fragrances or products during the retreat.
We provide cushions, benches, as well as comfortable straight back chairs.
If you have questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We look forward to seeing you at New York Insight soon!
