For nearly four decades, I’ve practiced insight meditation on and off. In 2022, after a significant medical event, I found solace in the New York Meditation Center. Recovering from my heart transplant, I sought ways to rebuild and reimagine my life, leading me to join NYI’s weekly Wednesday evening meditation sessions. The informal ‘drop-in’ format and flexibility appealed to me as I navigated my new path.

Over the past 18 months, I’ve felt I have been a part of a community, by regularly attending the Wednesday evening Sanghas, connecting with amazing individuals, participating in diverse new programs and social gatherings, and contributing to NYI’s fundraising initiatives. I am convinced that NYI has been some form of divine intervention, a mutual source of support during challenging transitions – mine following surgery and NYI’s after COVID.

I am thrilled to deepen my connection to NYI by joining its Board of Directors. I’m particularly interested in fostering an inclusive culture of dana, a core Buddhist principle and as a way to usher in NYI’s exciting future. Beyond NYI, I cherish my 25+ year partnership with Marcos Pichardo, my husband of eight+ years. With a lifelong dedication to social and racial justice, I’ve been fortunate to use my expertise as a fundraiser and impact advisor, to empower a new generation of changemakers and investors committed to positive social change and transformation.

Approaching a milestone birthday, I’m excited to integrate my professional skills with my belief in the transformative power of meditation and the kindness it inspires.
