Two sessions will be offered; sign up for either or both!

Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street, 12th Floor

Slow down and listen to the flowers.

In this seasonal ikebana workshop, we will explore the quiet poetry of autumn through the Japanese art of flower arrangement.

As autumn begins and daily life grows busier, ikebana offers an opportunity to pause, reconnect, and return to center. Rooted in awareness, simplicity, and connection with nature, ikebana invites us to slow down and notice the subtle beauty of seasonal change.

Together, we will explore flower arranging as a contemplative mindfulness practice that cultivates presence, spaciousness, and harmony with the natural world. Designed for all skill levels, this workshop weaves together ikebana instruction with Buddhist and Taoist perspectives on impermanence, balance, and beauty.

Participants will:

  • Create their own ikebana arrangement, with flowers to take home
  • Learn foundational ikebana principles and techniques
  • Explore flowers as teachers of mindfulness
  • Cultivate deeper awareness through contemplative making
  • Connect with community through the shared practice of flowers

No artistic experience is required.

All equipment and flowers will be provided. The flowers are yours to take home! Ikebana equipment will also be available for purchase.

There will be two separate sessions, with the opportunity to work with a completely different flower palette each time. While not required, participants are encouraged to sign up for both sessions in order to go deeper with this contemplative practice and experience a full-day, immersive ikebana retreat.

Note: A non-refundable flower and materials fee ($20 per session) will apply if a participant cancels within 48 hours of the class.
