Online: Steady Mind, Open Heart: How to Act Wisely When You’re Angry, Scared, or Confused

with Kimberly Brown

Saturday, June 11, 2022 | 10am – 1pm ET

Learn to cultivate skillful thoughts, words, and behaviors even in the most difficult circumstances.

Join teacher and author Kimberly Brown for this useful workshop where we’ll explore the three types of Buddhist wise actions—not-harming, being of benefit and cultivating our wholesome qualities. We’ll discover how to cultivate these actions skillfully by exploring: the power of restraint through the Eightfold Path; the strength of courage in the Brahmavihārās; and the value of the Bodhisattva path through the Six Paramitas.

This event will have an emphasis on the relational nature of our lives and the possibility of creating wisdom and compassion in every moment, for ourselves, each other, and the world.

We’ll engage with a number of formal and informal practices, including meditation, the RAIN technique, and making a vow to oneself, with a discussion of the Eightfold Path, Thich Nhat Hanh’s Five Mindfulness Trainings, the Five Hindrances, and other reliable supports to awakening.

Everyone is welcome at this special event. No experience with meditation or Buddhism is necessary, and beginners are welcome.
