In-Person and Online: Dharma Rhythms Summer Music Festival – The Demo Tapes

featuring Calli Medley with special guest Mac McCarty +Kidd Twist

Saturday, July 25th, 2026 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET

In-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street, 12th Floor

Join us for an evening of contemplative songs and sounds from Calli Medley with special guest, Mac McCarty +Kidd Twist. Calli will be performing songs from her debut acoustic album, The Demo Tapes. These are songs inspired by her life as an actor, backpacker, and human. Having recorded her album on cassette, Calli looks for ways to bring more human-ness to music—live, without autotune, special effects or splicing—to challenge the ever-engrossing edited and technological world.

Folk sprinkled with some funk, the night will include a wide array of sounds and topics, including a few songs from the band she also plays with, Mac McCarty +Kidd Twist. The evening will start with a 15 minute unguided sit, to bring everyone in the space to the room, and to the music. We hope you will come and connect with us.

This musical gathering is part of New York Insight’s Dharma Rhythms Summer Music Festival.

MacMcCarty +KiddTwist

MacMcCarty +KiddTwist is a Punk-Americana band & musical collective singing the songs of the Abraham’s River Anthology. Punk-Americana has been described as three chords and something to say.

Mac has said, “Folks ask me if Abraham’s River is a real place or is it just in my imagination. Well, my imagination is a real thing. As is everyone’s. Abraham’s River is a place somewhere on a map. It’s part New York of today, the early 60’s and Walt Whitman’s late 19th century. It’s also part small town on the western Appalachian foothills of Pennsylvania during the time of the Whiskey Rebellion. There’s a Desolation Row in town and it’s down the road from Madam Marie’s. A few miles away are North Philly, Jerusalem, Detroit, Damascus and towns in the southwest where Billy The Kid once roamed. Old London and Dublin probably aren’t too far away across the water. Love & Loss. Murder & Mayhem. Protest & Promise. Rising & Redemption. Love One Another. By any means necessary. Come on down. We’ll go somewhere together.”
