In-Person and Online: Dharma Rhythms Summer Music Festival – Violin & Sound Performance

featuring Michael Braudy with guitarist George Kormendi

Saturday, August 8th, 2026 | 6:30pm – 8:30pm ET

In-Person Location: New York Insight at 115 West 29th Street, 12th Floor

This concert will include Western classical violin music, and Indian music with violin and voice. The guitar will join the violin in the Indian music, in addition to selections of his own improvisations. Among the Western violin music will be solo Bach, and a beautiful piece by Argentinian composer Osvaldo Golijov. There will be moments of silence between musical selections, and opportunities to join in the vocalizations.

The goal of this evening will be a meditative experience through music. With attention to the breath and awareness of the vibration of the music, we will enjoy an energizing and calming effect as well as in the pure delight of the music.

This musical gathering is part of New York Insight’s Dharma Rhythms Summer Music Festival.

George Kormendi

George Kormendi currently divides his time between studying and teaching Tai Chi and working on guitar with musicians on various projects. While in his teens, George played in bands which focused on improvisation. Later, inspired by the music of Charlie Parker, Ornette Coleman, and John Coltrane, George majored in music at Hampshire College, then enrolled in the Berklee School of Music. In his twenties, George studied and performed with Attila Zoller, who along with George’s friend Joe Fonda introduced George to musicians in the NY, Connecticut, and Boston jazz community. George is grateful to his friend, Michael Braudy, who further opened him to the wonderful world of classical Hindustani music.
