Now Online: Dharma and Recovery – A Weekend Retreat at NYI
with Kevin Griffin
Saturday, May 2nd, 2020 | 1:00pm – 5:00pm, ET
Sunday, May 3rd, 2020 | 1:00pm – 5:00pm, ET
Due to COVID-19, this program will now be offered online only. Those who already registered for the in-person program will automatically be transferred to this online program. All registrants will be emailed the link to the online program prior to the program.
In this weekend retreat we will practice mindfulness meditation and explore recovery and the Twelve Steps through a Buddhist lens. While the Steps use theistic language, Buddhism gives us a way to understand recovery in more universal terms, taking us from the truth of suffering and craving, to the transformative realm of insight and loving-kindness.
Using the Buddhism & The Twelve Steps Workbook, we will explore topics like the Four Noble Truths, the Eightfold Path, Higher Power, Compassion, and Inventory. Each day will include instruction in a variety of mindfulness and loving-kindness practices, lectures and discussion, as well as interactive small group work.
Kevin Griffin’s book Buddhism & the Twelve Steps Workbook will be a guide for the weekend. Purchase a copy here.
