Most of the time we take good things in our lives for granted, focusing instead on the things we don’t like or what we want to change.

This is how most of us live, most of the time. It shouldn’t be a surprise that focusing on the negative makes us unhappy, but we do it anyway.

On the other hand, when we train ourselves to be grateful, we find things to be thankful for everywhere.

Every moment becomes an opportunity for gratitude which brings a deep sense of joy, and even of being blessed.

On this half-day workshop we’ll explore, with the aid of meditations based on the Buddhist tradition, how we can train the mind to be more grateful, and therefore more joyful. We’ll learn —and live— the truth of Benedictine monk and author David Steindl-Rast’s statement, “Look closely and you will find that people are happy because they are grateful.”
