Online: Outsmart Your Pain – Mindfulness Tools for Chronic Pain

One in three to one in five Americans are suffering from chronic pain. Despite surgery and powerful medications often the pain can not be kept in check – or healed. And pain medications come with side effects, including addiction to opioids.

Mindfulness helps us to turn towards what is already here (painful or not) and act in the most kind and wisest way possible in that moment. Consistent mindfulness practices have been shown to be supportive in many different ways: they help us move away from painful stories, appreciate what we have and what is beautiful more, they make us realize that we are not defined by our pain and they lower our overall reaction to potentially stressful things in our lives.

While the principles taught in this introductory class can also be applied for emotional pain, it is geared towards those who suffer chronic physical pain or from a chronic illness.

The teachings are drawn from Dr. Wolf’s new book Outsmart Your Pain – Mindfulness and Self-Compassion To Help You Leave Chronic Pain Behind.
