In-Person: Summer Sangha Sundays – Brooklyn Community Gathering in Brooklyn Bridge Park

Sunday, September 10th, 2023 | 3:45pm – 6:00pm ET

Location: Meet at 3:45pm, Brooklyn Bridge Park, near the rear of the Bridge View Lawn

Connect with your NYIMC community in parks across the boroughs this summer! We will meditate, meet, and then celebrate with an optional BYO Picnic.

Location Details: The Bridge View Lawn is located at Pier 1, near the main entrance to the park, which can be reached by subway, bus or Citibike. Pier 1 is adjacent to the Fulton Ferry Landing. You can view the exact location via this Google Maps pin: https://goo.gl/maps/nfnkD8G23spKpuTKA

If you are coming from Manhattan, a delightful way to reach the site would be via the East River Ferry (https://www.ferry.nyc/routes-and-schedules/route/east-river) to Dumbo/Fulton Ferry.

The Brooklyn gathering is the third of four outdoor, community events to celebrate the diversity of NYIMC’s sangha throughout New York City. Join us this summer to meditate outside and meet your NYIMC sangha across the boroughs.

New York Insight Brooklyn Sangha Leader, David Grogan, Aging as a Spiritual Practice Sangha Leaders, and the Friends Leadership Council will offer an afternoon engaging in community connection and simply spending time in our city’s beautiful Brooklyn Bridge Park (https://www.brooklynbridgepark.org/).

All are welcome to join this event, including friends and family, whether you’re a longtime community member and practitioner, or brand new to meditation and New York Insight. The event and activities have also been designed to be accessible and welcoming to all. If you have the time, come early and explore the park, which includes a historic carousel, numerous places to eat or snack and six separate piers.

Beginning at 4:00pm, sangha leader David Grogan will provide an opportunity for a brief, moving meditation in nature. Collaborating with David, our Friends Leadership Council and sangha leaders will then offer interactive activities to engage with new and old sangha friends.

When the event ends at 6:00pm, join our optional, BYO Picnic– bring your own meal, something refreshing to drink or share.

We encourage you to bring a blanket, pillow, towel or whatever you may need to support your practice in an outdoor setting. ***Note that chairs are not allowed in Brooklyn Bridge Park, but park benches are in close proximity to the meeting area.***

We are looking forward to seeing you this Summer. And look out for our final Summer Sangha Sunday this September– in Manhattan!

“Breathing in, I see that I am part of a sangha, and I am being protected by my sangha. Breathing out, I feel joy.” – Thich Nhat Hanh
