Online: The Wisdom of Self Compassion

Though compassion is often confused with putting others’ welfare above our own, Buddhism understands that genuine self-concern is the necessary foundation for kindness and connection with all beings. Developing the capacity to recognize and tend to our own suffering enables us to do the same for others, without looking away or getting overwhelmed.

Practicing self-compassion also enables us cultivate equanimity and courage—the wisdom we need to navigate the ever-changing circumstances of life with openness, patience, and clarity.

Join author and teacher Kimberly Brown for this special evening of discussion, Q&A, and guided Metta (aka lovingkindness) meditation. No experience is necessary. Beginners and experienced meditators are welcome.
