In-Person: Sunset Meditative Walk – Brooklyn Bridge to Brooklyn Bridge Park

with Lin Wang Gordon

Friday, September 22nd, 2023 | 5:45pm – 8:00pm ET

Location: Right outside the 4,5,6 Brooklyn Bridge train station on Centre Street, right before the pathway to go up to the Brooklyn Bridge

We often think of meditation as an indoor formal sitting practice, but it’s a practice we can integrate anytime, anywhere, and with anything.

Join us for a special outdoor meditation as we walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and conclude at Brooklyn Bridge Park during sunset.

Together, we will enjoy the beauty of a cityscape sunset while deeply connecting to our body and mind, and appreciating the natural world and interconnection with humanity.

We will also explore the rich history of the Brooklyn Bridge Park, which is the result of decades of community activists turning an abandoned industrial front into an innovative waterfront public space with sustainability and recreating habitats at the core of its design.

The meditative walk will start at the Brooklyn Bridge from the Manhattan side and continue over the bridge to Brooklyn Bridge Park, where we will do a few nature practices. The walk will happen rain or shine, as long as the rain is not heavy and there is not a threat of severe weather.

To reach the meeting location by Subway: 4, 5, and 6 trains to the Brooklyn Bridge stop, located at the intersection of Centre Street and Chambers Street.

We will practice open awareness meditation, metta, five elements, and other practices throughout the walk.

Both beginners and experienced meditators are welcome. Hope to see you there!

Teacher(s)

Lin Wang Gordon

Lin has studied insight meditation under the guidance of Jonathan Foust, Mark Coleman, and Sebene Selassie in the past decade.

In the last few years, Lin was particularly moved by the power of nature meditation to connect with a deep sense of well-being, love, wonder, resilience, and interconnection with all beings. Lin was inspired to share nature meditation and ecodharma as a doorway for personal transformation as well as a form of environmental activism.

She graduated from Mark Coleman’s Awake in the Wild Nature Meditation Teacher Training in 2017 and has been learning to lead ecodharma retreats from Johann Robbins and David Loy since 2018. She has taught at New York Insight Meditation Center and around the country. She is enrolled in the Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leaders Program (CDL6). linwanggordon.com
