Mindful Eating for Self-Care

with Laurence Magro

Saturday, October 26th, 2019 | 10:00am to 4:00pm

Mindful eating can become a practice of self-care through combining the tools of mindfulness practice and behavioral science to fundamentally change how we relate to food, mind and body. Do you eat when you are stressed out, bored or sad? Have you tried to eat more healthfully but just can’t seem to stick with it? Join Laurence Magro, psychotherapist and certified mindfulness educator on an exploration of habits of mind and heart around food and eating.

Through guided meditations, contemplations, individual and group exercises, dialogue and inquiry, as well as mindful movement practice, you will learn to:

• Identify physical and emotional triggers that set off food-related cravings
• Recognize your patterns or ‘eating scripts’ and automatic behaviors around food
• Understand how habit loops arise and can be modified
• Become familiar with the set of mind/body tools devised by psychiatrist and addiction expert Judson Brewer MD to address unhelpful habits and ride out cravings
• Explore a set of body-specific meditation practices conducive to self-compassion and acceptance
• Strengthen overall life-enhancing behaviors and actions

This day long workshop is open to meditation practitioners of all levels. Discover an innovative and compassionate approach to develop a sustainable, balanced relationship to this life-sustaining activity.

Note: Bring a homemade or store-bought lunch to the event, as lunch will be part of the mindful eating practice.
