Dharma and Recovery: A Weekend Retreat at NYI

with Kevin Griffin

Saturday, May 2nd, 2020 | 10:00am – 5:00pm
Sunday, May 3rd, 2020 | 10:00am – 4:00pm

In this weekend retreat we will practice mindfulness meditation and explore recovery and the Twelve Steps through an archetypal lens. While the Steps use theistic language, Buddhism gives us a way to understand recovery in more universal terms, taking us from the truth of suffering and craving, to the transformative realm of insight and loving-kindness.

Using the Buddhism & The Twelve Steps Workbook, we will explore topics like the Four Noble Truths, the Eightfold Path, Higher Power, Compassion, and Inventory. Each day will include instruction in a variety of mindfulness and loving-kindness practices, lectures and discussion, as well as interactive small group work.

About Weekend Retreats and Intensives: These non-residential retreats and Intensives offer a great opportunity to experience extended practice closer to home and within the container of noble silence. The teacher(s) for this specific retreat are supported by NYI and participants are not asked to support the teacher through th epractice of dana.
